It is Thailand’s largest earth dam, constructed under the Nan River Basin Development Project, origi-nally called Phasom Dam and subsequently renamed Sirikit Dam by Her Majesty the Queen’s permission. Sirikit Dam began to be constructed in 1967 and was completed in 1974. Their Majesties the King and The Queen accompanied by Her Royal Highness Princess Sirindhorn Mahachakkri officiated the opening ceremony of Sirikit Dam and the hydroelectric plant on March 4, 1977. Located at Phasom Village, Tambon Tha Pla, 60 kilometers away from the province town, constructed to contain the Nan River in the area of Tambon Phaluad. It is an earth dam, the ridge of which is clay; its is 113.60 meters tall and 810 meters long; its ridge is 12 meters wide, while its base is about 630 meters wide. The area above the dam has a length along the Nan River of about 129 kilometers; the widest portion is about 20 kilometers; the water-surface area is about 178,000 rai; the maximum capacity is about 10,500 million cubic meters, capable of generating electricity to supply to several provinces. Sirikit Dam offers very beautiful views; particularly in winter, the serenity of the atmosphere above the dam in the midst of decorative plants and flowers additionally arranged, which wouldbloom beautifully to challenge the wintry wind moving by. |

Could be accessible by route No.1163 from the Tha Pla road junction. After a 6 kms. drive, turn right into route No.1341. The village is located by the reservoir of the Sirikit Dam. Is about 4 kilometers far from the town of Tha Pla District and about 20 kilometersto the northeast of Sirikit Dam. This earth dam was constructed to close Chong Khao Khatso as to prevent water in the reservoir from overflowing and getting through those mountain passes. On the dam ridge there is an drive way. There is a landing for fish boats and service boats for sightseeing trips of the reservoir where there are several natural attractions. Within the reservoirthere are rafts for resting and overnight stay. There are also pavilions for admiring views and shopsselling foods to tourists coming to admire the views at this spot. |

Located at Ban Tha Pla, Tambon Tha Pla, about 6 kilometers north of Sirikit Dam. When the construction of the dam was completed, the area of Tha Pla Village was under the water this chedi, which is on the top of a mountain in the midst of the surrounding areas, looks like an island Doi Phrathat chedi is about 200 years old. It is a solemn, Burmese art golden pagoda; all around it thereare white sand stone Buddha images, there are railing around the pagoda that enable far-awaybeautiful views of Sirikit Dam. |

Is the name of a sub-district in Tha Pla District, located 25 kilometers away from the district town. It is a village located in the area of the national forest park above Sirikit Dam. It is convenient to travel there by Tha Pla Nang Phaya route. On both sides of the way to Nang Phaya there are long ranges of mountains, and in some parts you can see Sirikit Dam clearly.In the area of Nang Phaya there are fantastic views. In winter or in early morning you can closely admire the views of a far-reaching ocean of mist of the surrounding mountains. In the area of Nang Phaya there are several villages of rural people most of them grow farm crops, raise animalsand make brooms for a living whether in terms of fresh air, hospitality or peace in the communities.This is a very good place for Ecotourism. |

Located in the Districts of Mueang, Tha Pla, Nam Pat, Uttaradit Province was designated the 87th national park of Thailand on September 30, 1998. It covers an area of 999.15 km2 (624,468 Rai). The area was formerly the location Lumnamnan Forest, Jarim Forest, Nam Pat Forest, Mae Kam Forest, Mae Kon and Mae Sai Forest which later upgraded to a full status national park. With the abundant forest and huge reservoir in the same area, the park contains many natural wonders such as mountains, waterfalls, reservoir and many others. So, it is not surprising to find that the park is becoming better known and increasing numbers of visitors are coming to absorb and the beauty. |

It is the highest peak of 1,350 m. above sea level which bordered between Phrae Province and Uttaradit Province, located on the route of Choeng Thong – Kew Khian. From here, you can clearly see the great panoramic scenery of Sirikit Reservoir. Besides, it is the location of Phaya PohShrine. The route from the shrine is down-hill to Lumnamnan National Park. |
